Walk MS events are often family affairs. Siblings like Joe Flaherty walk for a sister or brother.
Children like Ellie walk for their parents with MS. And mothers and daughters, like Judy and
Lindsay Noble, both diagnosed with MS, walk for each other. Others, like Courtney Williams,
diagnosed in 2007, think a Walk MS event is the perfect time for a marriage proposal.
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
On Sunday, April 25,
2010, during Walk MS
San Francisco, Courtney
Williams proposed to Alison
Cain, his girlfriend of six
years. “It was even more
magical because we were
able to share it with our
family and friends,” said
Alison.
Ellie and her mom Marge* have done Walk MS events together since
Ellie was tiny. But as soon as Ellie got big enough—that is, kindergarten—she decided to up the ante and sell lemonade. “She discovered
one kid can make a difference,” said Marge, diagnosed in 1995. Now
nine, Ellie has raised hundreds of dollars for the Society through her
lemonade stand.
