More than 1,500 readers responded to
our online survey on their eating habits. The majority liked to eat out once
a week, with 45% citing fatigue as the
main reason why. People also said that
a meal out was valuable social time.
Seventy-seven percent of readers
who cooked at home said they did it to
save money. Others cited health (55%)
and control over what they ate (60%).
Popular low-effort meals included
pastas, grilled fish or meat, chili,
tacos, salads and slow-cooker meals.
As for favorite guilty pleasures, chocolate led the pack, followed closely by
ice cream—although there were a few
surprises. “Mashed potatoes with a
BIG spoon!” enthused a reader.
